Jackson's Growing up so Fast!

It seems like Jackson is learning new things by the minute these days. He's learned to point to ask for things he wants in the last weeks, he likes to take blocks apart, he has invented all kinds of ways to tease the dog, he has decided it's great fun to try and take mommy's glasses off her face constantly, and about a week ago he also learned how to open drawers. Now, the kitchen and bathroom drawers are a major source of entertainment. He likes to just roll the drawers in and out, but he's also discovered that sometimes there are cool things in the drawers. Like in the kitchen drawer where he found a ball of butcher's twine. He spent probably half an hour playing with this string and the drawer it came out of. It is very exciting stuff! And he has quite the strong willpower and knows how to voice his options, too. Try to take away the "toy" he is playing with and just see what a fit he will throw!

Toys, Toys, Toys...and Dare Devil Stunts

Since his birthday, Jackson and his toys seem to be taking over the entire house. We have little people and mega-blocks in every room it seems. I'm trying to convince Jack that putting his toys "in the bin" is a fun game. So far, it hasn't worked, although he thinks emptying toys "out of the bin" is a fun game! He loves his new blocks though and is getting the hang of the idea that you can put them together and take them apart.

I am absolutely sure that my son is going to be a dare devil, constantly-broken-arm sort of kid. The kid has no sense of caution or fear. He loves to be swung around, and he will dive head first off a chair with no thought to height. This morning, he climbed up the whole flight of basement stairs (14 of them). His mom was following along behind to act as spotter of course. He didn't get this trait from me...I'm blaming his daddy for this one. Which means I have lots of bicycle ramp fueled broken bones and jumping off roof type experiences to look forward to :).

Walking...Almost

I know, 2 posts in one day, but this one's for Grandma Harper! She wanted to see how he was coming toward walking when she was on the phone earlier, but he wasn't inclined to demonstrate at the time. Caught this a few minutes ago. He's getting better at "coasting" if he has furniture or toys to hold on to!

Easter

Jack had a little easter basket this morning...

He liked playing with the little toys and the bucket...

But, even more than that, he liked his first ever chocolate marshmallow Easter Bunny. Look at the dribbles all down the front of that shirt...
And, what a face! Then, we went to a friends house for an Easter Egg Hunt. Here are all the kids getting ready to go. Jack's wondering what's going on!First, mommy just set him on the grass, but he didn't like that and wouldn't pick up any eggs...Then, he and daddy came up with a good egg gathering technique...After that, he really got into it...two fisted even!

Then, we had a yummy lunch with ham, potatoes, and all sorts of goodies. Jack liked some sweet potatoes and bread and cheese, but his favorite part was the chocolate brownie served for dessert. He's becoming quite a chocolate monster after only one day of chocolate!

Around the House

These are just cell phone pictures, so they aren't the best quality, but they are fun. Jackson has discovered the pull out cabinet drawers and spent some time tonight entertaining himself by rolling out the shelves and checking out all the pans...in and out, in and out, ooh this makes noise...bang, bang, bang...

Since we moved in December, it was hard to tell much about the landscaping, so now I'm enjoying discovering all the spring flowers that are coming up....Oddly though, they are all on the side and back of the house...I'm going to have to plant some more in the front!

We are starting to get the garden plot put in. We started with some string and stakes marking the space...
Then we tilled up the area...Now, we've bought some wood edging to outline the garden and some paths and different areas...they are laid out roughly, but not cut or installed yet. We have to work on that this weekend.

In the meantime, I'm beginning to start seeds inside! Jack will be one year old in a few days too, so we are getting ready for that!!
