Mike turns 40!

We had a great party last night. Mike wasn't exactly surprised by the party, but he was surprised by the size of the crowd. We had over 50 people at our house throughout last night. It was a bit crowded, but I think everyone enjoyed themselves. It was nice to meet some of the people Mike works with and get to know neighbors and friends more. Lesa helped me get the party ready, and Colin took Mike to Seattle to get him out of the way of the "surprise" he mostly knew about. Here are some pictures from the party:

February catch-up

Oops--February snuck by without me updating my blog once! It's been a busy month.  I think you all heard about my accident. You can only see a few of the 14 staples here. I spent about a week wearing head bands like the one in the pic below.
Mike and I went to Seattle to see the Pompeii exhibit and had lunch at the Space Noodle the Monday after my accident, also known as Valentine's Day.

A week ago, we had Tom and Marie here for the weekend. We had a great time attending Jim Harper's 90th birthday party and catching up. Jack made a new friend, Kylie, whom he played with all evening.

We also visited Kirkland and wandered around Marina park and through some shops, and Mike took his folks on a tour of the Boeing plant as well.

Jack has been very happy lately to just stay home, which he doesn't get to do as much as he wants. He constantly asks to stay home from pre-school, which doesn't happen, but on weekends, he doesn't want to go anywhere. He spent a good amount of time yesterday lining up his cars in rows over and over again...

Yesterday, we also met Sam and Tommy at the park for another play date. They boys enjoyed the sand, slides, and swings.

Today, we did some house chores and cooking (we made lasagnas and potato soup for the freezer!). Then, I dug out some older plants I wanted to remove in the backyard. I'm replacing them with strawberries. I went to the garden center to buy some dirt and came home with this:

I know I'm a dork, but this makes me very excited! I missed my rhubarb plant last spring. I had one in CO, and I'm excited to have one again. It'll probably be next year before I can harvest from it, but it's in the ground!
